Attended the Ipswich 2013 Bird Spectacular today with a small list - Pair of OBs, Pair of Ruddies, 3 x female gouldians and couple of pairs of Java Sparrows. Came home with the OB's and Ruddies, 3 carry boxes, the yet to be released July 2013 edition of Birdkeeper, the 2012 June July Birdkeeper and 3 tree ferns. Only sighted a pair of orange head goulds and 2 red head gould males for sale. Only Java Sparrow sighted was entered in the Bird Show. Did notice that zebs were selling for $8 - $10 for normals, fawns and fawn pieds and thought "strange, my local Pet Shop only sells them for $7".

I thought the sales side of things was very poor in numbers for finches, canaries and budgies but was better if you were looking for parrots.

Many nice birds entered in the bird show and including a stunning (in my opinion) purple grenadier. This was the first time I had sighted one anywhere apart from online or in magazines and WOW what a bird!!!!!!!!!!! I asked one of the QFS members was it was and he said "I think its a Grenadier, I'll check". He then asked someone else and came back with "yes, its a purple grenadier and would probably be the most expensive finch here today"

I went back a few times to look at the bird and cursed for not taking my camera today!!!!

A relaxing few hours spent as well.
