Yesterday afternoon when checking my aviary birds, I noticed that a hen mask finch was sun basking on the aviary floor. My gut feeling was at the time that I should catch her up, possible egg bound' and place her in the hospital box. I picked up my bird net and realised that my injured shoulder would limit my ability to catch the finch.
A good friend and fellow AFF member, Mickw, had just arrived to look at my birds. Mick took a quick look at her, his gut feeling was possibly 'egg bound' as well. Mick grabbed the net, caught and placed her in the hospital box in record time.
During the night the hen looked very active. First light today I noticed she had indeed passed an egg.
