Hi all,
After waiting for there first moult to nearly finish I was surprised to see the combination of colours that has appeared
Could anyone assist in describing what I have bred. The parent birds are YH WB YB [ M/F] AND YH WB YB [M] X WH WB YB [H]
Do I keep some to breed together or breed back or do I sell some.Any help would be grateful. What value would you ask for if I swap or sell them,

Regards, CAPTAIN

Just going on the information you have given the
YH WB YB [ M/F] pair.
If the cock is DF they can only produce copies of themselves unless there are any splits in their breeding. If the young look different to the parents then you will have to work backwards to work out what splits the parents are.
If the parent cock is SF (blue ring around the neck) then the colour variation they can produce is a little different.
You can get
YH WB SFYB cocks
YH WB DFYB cocks
YH WB YB hens
YH WB GB hens

YH WB YB [M] X WH WB YB [H]
The hen in this pair is actually a Black head, just with a white breast in a yellow bird the head colour becomes whitish.
The young from this pair will be RH WB YB but the cocks will also be split for BH and YH and the hens will be split for YH.

Are each pair in their own cage? Its not unknown for both sexes to play away from home.

Try out the gouldian genetics calculators. Below is a link to an online one, no need to register to be able to use.

With regard to the price, that would depend on the availability of WB YB gouldians in your area and the general cost of buying one from the shops.

That's true Gary but lilac is just a poor white breast where the the purple bleeds through the white,it is a curse and unless you like them you will never breed a good clear white breast from them and imo they are hard to sell. Craig

I thought the pics were of the young, not that is changes the LB status of the shown bird but as you said it changes things with regard to the colours of the parents and what they can produce.
