Hi everyone, I am new here and quite new to keeping finches...I have kept parrots etc etc and am fanatic about there health and happiness......but have always loved these little birds so finally...I have now got some !!....i have a pair of star finch and a young pair of Gouldians ( red headed ) and a hopefully pair of red headed parrot finches as they have proven hard to sex....they are all beautiful....I hope to collect a cordon blue finch tomorrow too...bit think the man only has a single male so not sure !! ...am really keen to find out the BEST foods for them all ..Of course I have read a lot about the natural diets of finches that I keep but I would love to hear some recommendations on how other more experiences owners / breeders feed there birds ? I believe i have a good quality finch seed mix as it grows if planted....and i have a tonic too and I feed wild grass seed ( panic grass ) heads from my garden every other day (that way I know they haven't been sprayed) and I provide fresh drinking water every day a cuttle bone to nibble on and fresh endive and egg food. I gently mist them most warm days ( just a little ) and i add liquid vitamin D3 and calcium to there water once a week...they are kept outside but not in the sun..they are on my veranda. :hare: :sheep: does this sound all right ?.

HI there -

your feeding regime sounds very good. every now and again, just try something new for them to try - lebanese cucumber, dandelion leaves if you know they're clean, etc.

welcome to the forum.
