Hi all,

Do finches sit down (like in the picture) because they're are sick necessarily or is there another reason?? Could it be they're just tired or resting or something? I recently lost a Star hen and she was sitting like this as well but she showed the usual sick finch signs such as fluffed up, quivering and lethargic looking... This one is very active and healthy looking.

That is a hen as well, they do sit like that to cover their feet to keep warm and it is quite normal to be fluffed up a bit.Fluffing up holds the warm air around the body where as in hot weather they hold their feathers close to the body to keep the heat out. Cheers Craig

Doesn't seem distressed. I can see two sets of tippy-toes! Birds often sit like that :)
