Congratulations Nathan. They are about the hardest of the aussie finches that I have had to get to breed.

Congratulations. That's as good as it gets for an Aussie finch lover.

To be honest I don't know. I got 2 pair just over a year ago, they did nothing but keep perches warm till about a month ago when I saw one of the cock birds displaying to a hen with a piece of grass in full view. They made a nest 2.2m off the ground and 800mm from the roof, in the shelter amongst tea tree brush on the side of the aviary that gets most of the direct sun light. like the WE Masks they get white french millet & red pannicum green milk seed from the lowes, greens n grains, meal worms, and egg shells baked with some eggs (i'll put a photo up). They also get green panic shoved through the grass flap every now and then when I have time and remember.

They are in the centre flight housed with one pair each of normal YH Gouldians, Hecks, Painteds, Orange breasts, Yellow rumps, & Crimsons. The flight is 3m high 1.8m wide 3.6m deep. Half the aviary is roofed.
