While I was blow drying one of my poodles, muddy little hole digger. My husband went out to retrieve and dispose of soggy raw hide bone. There was a group of people at the front fence, young kids on their way to school with their parents. They called out to my husband, telling him their little budgie flew away, going under our house.
Does anyone have any ideas that would help get the budgie to come out? The people brought the little budgies cage to sit by the house with the door open on it. We feel really bad for these children. Kind Regards

Maybe you could put the open cage with food inside in an accessible & well lit place under the house hoping it will get back in.

Thanks Tiaris, will tell them. The little kid, his big brother and grandma, came back with a big net on a long pole. They've been out trying to catch it. But I think it's gone further under the house.
I took a pic of them, outside looking, as I grit my teeth, they've smashed up my sun flower seedlings. But to see a little boy this concerned for his little bird, coupled with the support of his big brother, I can't help but to smile at such closeness and concern. Kind Regards

Turn the hose on it so it can't fly and send one of the kids in for it.

They would have to the area a wide berth without nets, etc. to have much prospect of it returning to the cage.

If it was me I would put the cage where the bird can see it and sternly glare at the bird and point to the cage

Ians method is best if they can get close enough to pick the bird up once it has been wet down. But if no one can get in far enough to reach it then a waste of time. Good luck.

Thank you so very much to everyone. At first hubby came in red in the face holding back tears: he felt badly for the little boy and his bird. We spent the afternoon searching to buy the little boy a new budgie. Hubby kept going out to check if he could see the bird, and just a few moments ago, he found the budgie sitting in its cage, he hurriedly went to the cage shutting its door. He walked down to where the little boy lives: no one home. Won't this little boy be so pleased to have his bird back safe and sound. Kindest Regards.

PS: the woman with the net, was the neighbor acrossthe road I sent text to, that has in ground pool, if they had pool net that could be loaned to help. And I just this neighbor text about the budgie, and she let me know the little boys name is Emmett. Awesome how everyone helped. Thank you again.
