What are the chances of a one legged zebie cock breeding successfully
has anyone had a similar experience?
lost his foot after getting it caught last year, he is now coming up to two years old and is in perfect health bar the foot, only concern is can he do the deed as he leans to one side.

I've had a one-legged male (Red Siskin) breed too but he was an exception - had a handful of one-legged females of several species breed very well. But, generally (in most instances) one-legged males struggle to mate well enough for their mates to produce fertile eggs. If the Zebra male in question struggles to sit/stand straight, I'd be willing to confidently wager he won't fill an egg.

Yes one legged gouldian cocks can do the job as they mostly mate in the nest box so no balancing acts on the perch but i think your zebbie may have problems but as they say, where there is a will there is a way. Craig

Had a one legged painted, always did it on the floor, he was ok. Agree about the goulds though, nest box mating.

Just a quick update on my i footed cock bird
Put him in a cage with a hen for a few weeks before i put the nest in to make sure if she layed they would be fertilised by him, as she came from breeding aviary.
First clutch all dud eggs, Second clutch all clear again,
Third go one hatched, and has just fledged the single young.
So 1 young from 15 odd eggs is the poor boys best effort.
That experiment is now finished and he can spend the rest of his days in the aviary with the flock.
