Just a few question
1) where to buy a candling light and egg tweezers in Newcastle area or on line? I had a quick look on the net and only seem to find tweezers in UK.
2) can you tell as soon as the egg is layed or does it take a few days?
3) if an egg is infertile, do you remove it straight away?

Cheers

Question one no idea. Question 2 leave it a week to be 100% sure. Question 3 depends on the type of bird and the number of eggs. If it is a type of bird that is bombproof and there are more than one infertile egg, remove all but one infertile egg.

Hi Ron,you can buy egg candling lights on line cheap, the one's with the bendable extension are great.I have never heard of egg tweezers and you don't need them with the candling light i mentioned as you are able to use it in the actual nest with the extension.
You would have to wait at least 7 days to confirm an egg is fertile. If there is 3 eggs and two are fertile leave the infertile egg there as it can help the young to lean against when being feed and also stop them being crushed by the brooding bird. Cheers Craig

This is the candling light I bought today off eBay

This is the egg tweezers I thought I would get for handling eggs but the freight was 6 times the price of the tweezers so I will give them a miss.
