I've been waiting for my last batch of RFPF to colour up and in the meantime another clutch has fledged so it's a bit hard to see what's happening amongst the foliage but have just managed to get a good look at one who seemed to be slower to colour up than the others and have discovered that I seem to have an unexpected mutation. It looks like a sea green but instead of an orange mask it's a beige colour. Is this a normal variation?

Hi Redwing,
Sorry that I have not replied to this question sooner, just browsing and have seen it for the first time. I'd say it's probably a young hen and she has a duller bib than a cock, hence the colour being not as orange. Let me know what it has matured into. Cheers, Deegs.
