This COLD SNAP of Melbourne Weather is driving me insane. My Red Siskin pair finally managed to fledge 2 young after 5 nests. Tuesday the first one left the nest.Wednesday the second 1
flew out, unfortunately this morning I found it death. Just as a lot of birds were taking advantage of the late summer good weather, along comes winter in a hurry and spoils my fun.
I hope we don,t have too many other cold nights, as I have Crimsons , Gouldians and Red face on young.
I hope that your losses are at a minimum.

Hi Guy,it's always the way and heart breaking when you have birds breeding late in the season and the weather turns cold but we have been blessed with only 2 days of 40 over Summer.Spitfire wrote:This COLD SNAP of Melbourne Weather is driving me insane. I wouldn't worry too much about your crimsoms, for me they start breeding now right through till Oct/Nov,the young hang in the nest at lot longer than most finches and emerge very well developed. Cheers Craig
