When goldfinches start singing

Male should start singing after first molt is my experience of trapped birds the same colour as yours. Will be easier to tell closer to spring.

No special set up. They are in a mixed aviary with many varieties as you see in the photo. For 3 years they didn't have any attempt at nesting.
They built one nest in a hanging basket and second nest on the top of a breeding box. Now they are back in the basket , made new nest with grasses, cotton wool...Only difference I did is removal of zebras as they were too nosy. I put zebras in a breeding cabinet. After removing nests will let them free.
