I was watching a pair of Zebra Finches today when something very surprising happened. The male started quivering his tail like a female ready for sex, then the female mounted him and proceeded to copulate in a display of apparent complete role reversal. I have seen plenty of males trying to have sex with other (usually unreceptive) males, but never a female behaving like a male. Has anybody else ever observed such a thing?

Yes, I saw that once! Not sure what was going on there.
I have kept lots of Zebs but only seen it the once. Maybe it's the start of the revolution...

Seeds fertalised with animal meal which comes from animals fed with hormones is effecting them? Well it's a theory which will thrill those worried about the ill effects of this sort of mucking about with animal/plant connections.
