Hi everyone,
My name is Brendan, between my father and I we been breeding birds for many years. When I was younger I was a licence breeder for Australian birds.
Dad has been breeding gouldians for over a decade and now we he has sold all his normal birds and we are both concentrating on breeding yellow gouldians (unfourtionaly not Australian yellows)which I am thinking of changing to. I would like to know where I can buy a quality gouldian finch seed mix in sydney.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Brendan

Hi Brendan,

Welcome to the forum. As Craig has said, once you make a few more posts you will be able to access lots of information. In the meantime, here are three places that I use for the purchase of seed in the Sydney area:

Elenbee Bird Supplies - Seven Hills (http://www.elenbeebirdsupplies.com.au/)
Crystal Pet & Wire Centre - Rooty Hill(http://www.crystalpetandwirecentre.com.au/)
Enfield Produce - Pet and Garden Centre - Enfield (http://www.petandgarden.com.au/)

Elenbee Bird Supplies and Enfield Produce are approximately the same distance from where you live. Enfield Produce have the best prices - very reasonable for bird food and accessories.

I hope this information helps. Enjoy the forum.

Hi Brendan,

I'm a breeder of Aussie yellow gouldians. Great little birds!

I'm from Brisbane and have just order seed from Enfield produce because they looked to be really affordable, even after the shipping fee. I was after Niger for my siskins though!

Australian wildlife supplies are another company that offer plenty of variety.

Cheers,

Brenton

Brenton,

Crystal pet and wire have the premium finch mix, great seed, pretty reasonable in the price, sprouts ok. Enfield produce is 10 mins from home, bought 20kg bag, $32, Avigreen. Good price for me 10 from home and sprouts really well but does have the little black rape seed in it, nothing of mine touches it. Crystal is all white seed, no black. Enfield also have at times "Greens and Grains". Not cheap, mixed with a lot of chaff, I just sieve it through a colander for all the wild grass small seeds. Works out at about $12 per kg.....served as a treat only.
I think I will stick with Enfield, Harry is ok, will take birds from you and also at times has pleasant surprises in the bird dept ( read breeding pairs of Bul-buls, blackbirds) but just be aware some of those surprises are near the "use by date" .

Brendan,

Went today to Enfield, 20kgs of Red Finch Mix (Avigrain) is $30 The Blue Finch Mix (Avigrain) is $35 for a 20kg bag. Difference is no canola in the blue, all seed which my birds eat, they will not touch the canola. Hope this helps. No finches today bar a lot of what I think are wild caught Goldfinches. Heaps of parrots and budgies, Ecces, superbs, Rosa Bourkes and some King Quail. Heaps of chooks. Go have a look, not a bad browse.

Ken.
