Painted finches

Hi all, ive got 4 pairs of red painted finches in my planted aviary with a pond
they are breeding like rats!!!, wondering if maybe its the running water of the pond which is tiggering all this breeding!!

For such an unambiguously arid evolved species they certainly show a great regard for water. Painteds have always been the first species to come to the water when freshly replenished in my aviaries. Most wild observations of them are at or near water too.
