Hi
I am a new member and am looking forward to being able to get advice from experienced breeders. I live in South Australia and I have 2 adult gouldian finches with 8 babies, 4 emblema finches and around 30 canaries. I have bred canaries for the last 7 years and am new to finches this year. I am really enjoying them and glad I have added them to my aviary. I joined this group to be able to get advice when I am stuck with things I am unsure of, sometimes my questions may seem silly but one thing I am not afraid to do is ask a stupid question if I will receive an answer that will help me.
I also have my first question and am hoping someone can help me. Is kikuyu grass, couch grass safe for me to plant in my aviary and not be toxic to the birds. I have tried some other plants and the birds stripped them bare, so I have put in fake plastic plants, but considering these grasses grow wild I thought I would give them a try. I am 90% sure that is the grass they are but I can post a picture after I have taken one, if any one is good at identifying grasses,
Thanks in advance,
Donna

Welcome to the forum. How big is your avairy? And do you breed the canaries in the avary or in a breeding room?
