Just thought to double check what this grass is. Noticed a large patch just down the road so did the usual and took my fair share
The height was roughly 1.5m tall with seed head. I have a feeling its green panic and hope it is but nonetheless, I'll feed it once re-established  Any input appreciated!

Looks a lot like what I feed my birds. Never have been posative if it is Guinea grass or panic, but the birds approve either way.

If its seed turns a purple colour it's guinea grass among other names. If stays green it's green pannic (pannicum maximum)

By the sounds, I have guniea grass then. Seeds on some of the other heads were going quite purple
Any big downsides to growing it? It likely wont go in aviary just a seeding grass source. And is it best to pick just before it goes purple?
