Yep its true what they say about never keeping 2 pair of zebs together , that its a 1 pair or 3 pair or more situation .
I have 2 pair in together and its maddening to watch the bitch fights and macho stand offs , other half says lets get another pair then HOWEVER I think 1 pair are going to magically relocate themselves to a friends aviary very soon.
The remaining pair will have to be stopped from breeding once they hit breeding age as the girl has a thing happening where she will drop to the ground and lay on her back if she is startled , maybe a nuerological disorder or she may just be a drama queen anyhoo its not a trait I want to be adding to any sort of bloodline . :o

That's amazing. I've heard of myotonia in goats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fainting_goat) but not in zebra finches but according to Wikipedia it even occurs in humans. I don't know if you should just get-rid of them or offer them to a neurology department at a medical or veterinary college.

Sometime three pr are better to have then two,as it shares the fighting around. But then three pr would mean three times the amount of young.

Living in Dubbo means a very costly exercise to get them to any one who would want to study them and besides I think shes better off living here where she is left alone.
Its a fright episode as I just gave her water and because she didnt see me coming in the dark she chucked her wobbly again Id say neurological or cardiac , she is also prone to episodes where she sits in the nest and squarks like a young hungry chick ....very strange little girl.

It could be easier all round to keep the 2 girls so they have company but cant breed. :D
And relocate the boys elsewhere.

I think all the zebs are going today to other halfs mates aviary so the crazy girl might go in with the odd bods ( single sex birds who partners have passed away ).
They all cozy up and seem to be happy so it wont take her long to settle down in there.
