Worming Mixed Aviary

Worming is the thing that worries me the most about keeping finches. I have read quite a bit on the subject and all over the web people have different oppinions on the matter. I keep a mixed flight of finches and was wondering if i have to take this into account when worming them? The main types i have (thats when i have them! which at the moment i have none..refer to 'introduce yourself' in general forum under my new member post.) are Red Faced Parrot finches, red cheeked Cordons, Emblema's, Double Barred, St Helena's and Ruddies. My question is...Do i use the same dose for all these types of Finches? I use the waterbowl method. I have used Avitrol plus in the past but keep reading that it can be quite nasty to the Parrot Finches. Has anyone had a problem with this stuff. I may try Moxidectin next time as the word around is that it is quite safe...Any help would be appreciated..Thanks...

The first product i bought was avitrol plus (i think) and after contacting the company that make it, i was told it's not recommended for gouldians and has to be used very carefully in hot weather. So i took it back and went elsewhere for moxidectin, used it a fortnight ago and had absolutely no hassles. I stuck it in a mixed aviary of zebra's, cordons, gouldians and orange-breasts. Hope this helps.

I use avitrol plus, direct into the crop with a crop needle at times.I have only had losses when i used it in extreme heat.(lesson learnt) Which i believe may be atributed to netting the birds in the heat, 35 degree plus day.Although i have found plumheads to be the most touchy.I think when used properly it is a good pruduct.As i am still using it after eight or so years(direct into the crop),In conjuction with moxidectin.
