When I had Parsons years ago.I did not feed any of my finches live food. And the Parsons I had, breed well very well in fact. They also had large clutches of young.I think sometimes it depends on the birds you have purchased,What they were reared on, and what they have been feed as breeding birds. As birds wait until the conditions are right for them to breed. This maybe waiting for the right food source as well as other factors. So in short feeding them meal worms/magots will only be a step in the right direction. They may or may not breed without mealworms or magots,Probably would though.Giving them mealworms/magots will also give you a healthier bunch of chicks,Assuming you get that far.As with all finches once you start live food and they go down don't stop the supply,As this can be a disaster,With the possibility of the chicks being abandoned.
