Did anyone else get an email from Diane saying she was mugged after an unannounced trip to London and needs $2400 to get back home?
The email is as follows:
"Hello,
This message may be coming to you as a surprise but I need your help.Few days back I made an unannounced vacation trip to London,UK. Everything was going fine until last night when I got mugged on my way back to the hotel. They Stole all my cash, credit cards and cellphone but thank God I still have my life and passport.Another shocking thing is that the hotel manager has been unhelpful to me for reasons I don't know. I'm writing you from a local library cybercafe..I reported to the police and after writing down some statements that's the last I heard from them.I contacted the consulate and all I keep hearing is they will get back to me. I need your help ..I need you to help me out with a loan to settle my bills here so I can get back home tomorrow. I'll refund the money as soon as I get back. All I need is $2400..Let me know if you can get me the money then I tell you how to get it to me.Thanks
Diane

The follow up email after I replied asking if she was aware of the email being sent:
"Glad to hear from you..I need your help. You can send the money via western union money transfer to the details below:
Receiver's Name: Diane Cawley
Address: 105 Leicester Road,London,United Kingdom
Kindly get back to me with the confirmation number of the transfer(MTCN#).Thanks as I await your urgent response.
Diane"
I don't trust that this isn't a hacked account, even if I had $2400 to send, I can't say I would through an email request.
Just seems fake to me.

It could be more than that. It's possible someone has hacked Diane's Yahoo account as the return email address is the same as Diane's normal email address. Diane you need to check this ASAP. Maybe someone has hacked your account and gone through your address book to send this email to all your contacts.

I hope Diane will fix this problem soon. I got this message too just 3 hours after receiving a message from real Diane and I know that she is in Australia not in England right now. But I agree e-mail looks real- somebody using her yahoo account.
We received it too, we just deleted it. Looking at the list of the people that it was sent to, there were more than just a few of us that have replied to this thread.
