As you will know from my other posts, I am a newbie and know nothing - yet. Can anyone suggest any good books on finches, as well as on aviaries? Thanks.

a good magazine to get is 'Just Finches & Softbills' has some very good articles.
you could also google the following.....
Mike Fidler
Marcus Pollard
Hawkesbury Finch Club
to name just a couple,
also there are quite a few links to interesting information in the "books & links" area

If you are looking for another good book I would try and get a copy of

AVICULTURE in AUSTRALIA
Keeping and breeding aviary birds

by Mark Shephard

I see it on occasion in the bird book section of EBay
I am pretty sure it is out of print as it was produce in 1989
To me its a good allround reference book covering most aspects.

love the Shephard book.

Yep, anything by fidler, shephard, kingston, etc.
Lots of others too, my new favourite is the Encyclopaedia of Estrildid Finches, a german book but faball the same!
Looking forward to the new kingston too.
You can also find a lot of info in the following magazines, and by searching google.

Australian Aviary Life
Just Finches and Softbills magazine
Australian Birdkeeper Magazine
