Hello to all,

New member here from Geelong in Victoria.
Have only recently in the last 2-3 weeks set up a new aviary in our backyard roughly 2m L x 1.5m W x 1.8m H, aviary is facing North and I have put clear perspex across top 600mm roughly.
Have taken a couple of friends Gouldian collection over, have the following currently.

Purple Breasted / Red Head / Green Back - Hen x2
Purple Breasted / Black Head / Green Back - Hen x1
White Breasted / Black Head / Green Back - Hen x1 ? (Think its a hen)
Purple Breasted / Red Head / Green Back - Cock x1
Purple Breasted / Orange Head / Green Back - Cock x2
White Breasted / Red Head / Green Back - Cock x1
White Breasted / Red Head / Yellow Back - Cock x1

Have I pronounced all of that right?
Would be keen to get another couple of hens to even it up a little but havent been able to source yet?
Also have some button Quails in the same aviary 2 Female normals & 2 Male silvers.
Have 7 new timber nesting boxes in the aviary, 5 together then 2 together and at this stage have been putting a fair bit of grass on the aviary floor for them to make their own nests.....

Have several perches, mainly up high. Two calcium sticks/perches, a couple of stainless feeder bowls, a large drinker waste height and a bath a bit lower than drinker near front of aviary.

Any feedback welcomed.
Thanks Matt

Hi and welcome to the forum
Save yourself from typing all that out each time we are happy with the letter abbreviations :D

You have some nice colour combination's there. It might be a bit difficult to get Gouldians right at this time. Once the youngsters have coloured up there should be plenty available.
There are a couple of forum members reasonably close to you that keep gouldians, Im sure they will be in touch if they have or will have any gouldians for sale.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have thought of most things. Though once you start breeding you will need another bigger (probably twice the size) avairy, to move your breeding birds into while the spares stay in the original avairy. Because you will catch the bug. :D The pic looks like a hen to me.

Thanks for welcome's guys.

Already planning a second aviary.....just need to work out where exactly and to buy or build one.
Like the look of the Diamond Firetail breed also along with the Gouldians.

Noticed this afternoon that 3 of the next boxes have a decent amount of grass in them already which is a good start.

I have a lot more pics of the Gouldians I currently have, just havent uploaded any yet.
