Howdy all,

Thought I should say hi. I'm from Wollongong on the NSW SC.
I have been into birds ever since I was old enough for my old man to 'give up' a flight of his own for me. He has been into canaries and finches for most of his life. I started out with Lovebirds, because he didn't like parrots so the they me the opportunity to have birds that were completly mine.
I now keep conures, but have just finished my aviary which has a dedicated finch flight. I have/will keep Goulds, Parrot finches, Gold finches & canaries for the whistle, and what ever else I can fit in there.
The old boy has quite a few differant species which I have helped to source and am constantly encouraging him to expand his mini suburb of Taj Mahals, now that he has time, health and space.

For the record, I'm a massive Raiders fan, hence the name, and have loved living in Wollongongthis past week

I look forward to gaining a heap more knowledge from other enthuisists from this enjoyable but often heart breaking and frustrating hobby.

Cheers all.

Gomer, I'm someone who'd rather stay in the background taking in as much as possible, but I'll be sure to pass on what ever I can when someone asks for some help. Cheers.

Welcome. I kind of did the reverse to what you did. My Dad was a parrot and Cockie breeder and my Mum is hugely into budgies. The finches were just periferal to them, so of course that's the way I went. :D
