Talk about getting blown about in the wind down here.
:o
Just went out to lock up and saw one of my aviaries had moved about 3 inches  So we have just been out there tying it down even more  I already had loads of pegs in the base. Now it has more pegs, couple of ropes, one tied to the pergola and the other to the water tank, and some huge plant pots at the back of it.

Best of luck Melbourne and all those in between.....I think this storm is on its way over to you. :?

My makeshift tarp city didnt fair to well today either , moved some of the smaller cages into the garage and the rest I battled on with ...and our wind storm is nothing compared to what they are getting down south.

Errr. Next to no wind here, and that is unusuall. Can usually rely on the Freo Doctor to blow from one end of the state to the other. Maybe that's y avairys round here are usually bolted into concrete.

VERY strong wind and rain here last night. blew down several trees in coroboree park, plus our roof leaked a bit! bit freaky with the wind howling around you.

Wind storms like this are a good reminder - you have to build for the worst case senario since Muphy's Law operates more often than not. I know someone here in Los Banos who has a huge aviary made from bamboo poles with poylmer netting over it. I would dearly like to have another aviary but I don't think a bamboo aviary will withstand a category 5 cyclone and I've seen plenty of damage from a category 3 in August this year but strangely his aviary was untouched but one of the steel screen houses at work ,which look like aviaries, got rather bent.Image

When you see the bamboo scaffolding in Hong Kong, you'd trust it as an avairy as long as it has been put together well.
