If the finches ( in breeding cabinets now) are on eggs or with young when the new aviary is finished can I put the cabinets into the aviary with the cabinet doors open until the young fledge then remove cabinets?? Do you think they will return to the nests or build new ones thus abandoning the young??

personally i think they'd lose the nest in all the excitement of the new found space

if it were me i'd probably just wait til the young have been weened to be safe.

there's too much stimulation and uncertainty for the parent birds in a move like that - i don't think it's worth the risk.
