Last year I had a pair of striated pardalottes breed in a hanging pot on my back verandah, well they are back but this year the pot is full of plants and has to be watered , but this hasnt stopped them still using it even though I I put a perfectly good nest box right next to it.
Here is a picture of the pardalotte emerging from the pot.

we used to have both spotted & striated pardies nesting in holes in our wall within 4ft of each other!

my grandparents here in perth have the exact same hanging baskets and have 3 pairs of spotted pardalottes that have used them this year!! theyre brilliant little birds. greats shot framed.
We have the striated pardolotes here in the Kimberley and they love digging there nests out of dirt embankments, much like the Rainbow Beeaters which we also have up here:) Gorgeous little birds!!
