G'Day All,
Currently in my large aviary (4m x 4.5m) I have a total of 20 Gouldians plus 6 young waiting to fledge.
In a seperate aviary (3m x 1.5m) I have 3 Pairs of Painted & 1 Pair of Silver Headed Nuns.
My plan was to sell maybe 3 or 4 pairs of the Gouldians as I have 2 Pairs of Blues on order.....then to move the Painted pairs into the larger aviary.
Then to get hold of another pair of Silver Headed Nuns & 2 Pairs Of Diamonds for the smaller aviary making a total of 4 pairs in that & 12 pairs in larger aviary.
Can anyone see any problems with this proposed setup at all or have any advice.
P.S. Does anyone know where I can get hold of Diamonds & Silver Headed Nuns in Geelong/Melbourne VIC area at all?
Thanks guys Matt

24 gouldians would probably be reasonably OK for starters (perhaps a bit crowded , but Gouldians are usually quite comfortable in the community situation)
but . . .
would be pretty chockers at the end of a half decent breeding season
Not really up to speed with Blue Gouldians . . but the advice in the past was Blue to Normal or Blue to Split . . Never Blue to Blue
So you would lose any control of your blue matings in the colony system

hi Matt
I think it should be fine... as Arthur said a bit chokers at the end of the season.
I think you COULD be able to get some nuns from Peter (email me for last name) who's near melbourne. He advertises on petlink a lot.

Thanks for your input all, will most likely setup another holding aviary for young for the breeding season.
Yeah have to blue cocks, one white breast & 1 purple breast then the 2 split blue hens on order so no chance of blue to blue.
