"different" king quails

hey guys. got these couple of king quails i've bred myself that show some unusual traits. have put both back to breed with a parent to see what happens (which i dont usually do, will be interesting) but not sure what others think/know about them...

normal king quail cock with unusually large amount of red on his front...

i also have another cinnamon hen that appears to have white/grey wings... i know there are normals, cinnamons and silver, but what about pied quails? have heard of them but never seen any before.

yep I would breed the male to the biggest and best hen you have, and the pied cinnamon hens to the whitest cinnamon cock you have. There are such things as pieds, and can come in any colour.
The male I'm thinking could be a Red Fronted, they do exist and are very nice.

i don't think the male is any kind of mutation, just quite well coloured. still unsure about the hen, could be a pied i guess. don't know anything about them, how they look, colour variation, nothing! have never owned any before, the 2 cinnamons i have now came from a normal pair so no cinnamons to pair it up with, so back to dad to see what happens for a couple of clutches.

It's a good few years since I failed to perpetrate the only pied cinnamon king quail I have ever been able to get my hands on. The feathers in that hen were actual white on cinnamon. But that looks like cinnamon and silver on the same bird to me. So I would say that is a different sort of pied. Definately go with your daughter to dad pairing and good luck.

i thought it looked like a mix of cinnamon and silver too. noticed a difference since birth/hatching. there was a normal young (which died ), a silver, and two cinnamons, but one of the cinnamons looked lighter than the other... ill try n get a pic of the other hen tomorrow. i won't be selling her either. the silver hen looks unremarkable and i will be selling her soon, but know who it's going to and will keep in touch with them regarding any young and their colouration.

I still think the cock is a red breasted, they look just like normals but have more red.
if you don't have any cinnamon cocks, send em up this way would love some

from what i've read on zebrafinch.com about the red-breasted, it's an actual mutation, with hens looking different too, and the bib of the male turning mostly black and the back getting quite dark. this is one of the pics they give:

yes that IS a red breasted, but they don't all look like that... that's a very dark and nice bird
silver RB's are very pretty too - but silver and golden pearls and 'Darth Vaders' (dark RBs) are the best I reckon

im just goin on what info is on that website. it says its a recessive gene, but i was actually doubting that myself since it displays so simply with other colour variations, looks more like a trait to me than a mutation. dunno. will just have to see what comes out of my lot here!
