I went into the aviary today and was splitting my aviary into two, one half has the zebs and the other half has Gould and stars. I have a nest of zebs due to fledge this week and with the craziness of catching the birds the chicks all jumped out of the nest and were flying around crashing into everything. I managed to collect them all an get them back into there nest, what's the chances I may loose them? I havE been back out the to see if they have jumped again but couldn't see any.

I'm not as experienced in finches as some other breeders on here but I'say that if theydidn't fly straight back out they should be fine. The parents probably gave them more feeds and they've worked out it's much easier to slave of mum and dad for as long as you can then to head out into the big wide world and search for food themselves

Zebs are tough, and the fact that they appear to have stayed in the nest is a plus. Odds that all will be OK sound good.

They will be ok even when you put them back in and they jump ut later as you have stated leave them as they will stay out and the parents will take care off them. Just sit and watch. They will fly up and down up and down and so on. Zebra parents work hard to get the young flying to a perch straight away.

Zebs are good like that, if they pop out I leave them out all day then pop them away in the nest for the night just before dusk, I usually do this for 2 nights then leave them to go back them selves if they want. Seems to work fine with me.
