I have bought hemp, linseed, oats and niger seed from Camsal Aviaries in Elizabeth. They also have a products line too.

I guess it will depend on where in Adelaide your family is going to be visiting. Camsal Aviaries are in the north of Adelaide. If you can let me know what area they will be staying I can find some addresses of bird places.

Scatt, although made by an Australian Company (ie. Vetafarm) is not available for sale in Australia.

Hi Reza. As Madhatter indicated you might have better luck getting Scatt in Jakarta. There is a similar product, Moxidectin, that can be purchased through veterinarians in Australia. The formulation is fromThe Australian Pigeon Company (http://www.auspigeonco.com.au/) in Melbourne. I picked up some from Birds R Us in Cessknock (NSW) the other day $70. You may be able to purchase it directly and have it delivered directly to where your relatives are staying (contact [email protected]) or visit the clinic in while in Melbourne (+61 3 97649000).

Personally I would not try to re-enter Indonesia whilst carrying hemp seeds without propper documentation. Hemp is a fiber made from a well known plant Cannabis sativa or marajuana. The "It's for the birds" excuse didn't work for Schapel Corby and it probably won't work for you unless you have arranged an import permit beforehand. There are commercial growers in Australia (just did a quick Google and saw http://www.puredelighthemp.com.au or email [email protected]) so you can get it but I'm certain you'll need to organise both export and import papers given the nature of the product. Certainly not impossible but a lot of trouble.

Camsal sell the Moxidectin (the Australian Pigeon Company one) but it is quite expensive, about $44 AD for a little bottle so maybe getting Scatt from Jakata might be your best option as the airlines have been taking any bottles with liquid in them from the passengers before boarding.
I certainly would have reservations about taking hemp seed on an airline, they might not be bothered if it was leaving a country, but they certainly would have things to say if it was being brought in.

Liquids with a combined total <100mL are OK for cabin baggage so anything over should go into the check-in. You may have to "forget" what was packed so that you can import medicines into Indonesia as declaring it on your customs form might result in confication unless you know that the product is registered there. That said, the authorities there aren't likely to look, ask or even care what the law is unless you tell them.

Mad Hatter : Yes you right, couple day ago just visit vetafarm web and read about scatt.

Diane : Thank's for hemp explanation, will consider it to taking from here. My friend had brought from the
netherland about 500 gr. he put "normally" in the bag bring it to cabin, in and there is nothing
happen when entering jakarta. But this is different place, time and person who will carry :notsure:

Gregh : thank you for your advice about moxidectin. my experience about my custom officer is they will ok
if we carry "normal" amount. Would be different if we bring in large numbers and seen as
"commercial" goods. they will start to ask ;)
