We have seen an aviary we are interested in but comes with three budgies and a weero. We plan to use the aviary as a holding aviary and to put breeding cages, would it be a problem having them together, at least until we are able to rehome the birds?

What size aviary won't be a problem if cage is big.

Depends on if you like your finches legless. :petrified: I for one wouldn't trust budgies with finches. The jolly things chew everything.

Always said I wouldnt put Quarrion and finches together ( gulps ) but I have 1 pair quarrion ( my hand reareds ) and 1 pair yellow emblema in a 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.9 aviary on the back deck ... no problems so far , actually the emblemas have built an awesome nest out of quarrion feathers and chewed up balsa wood from the quarrions chew toys.
All happy in there much to my relief ....dont know about budgies as Buzz said depends on aviary size .
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Just to clarify what you are asking Budgies and Cockatiel together or Budgies and Cockatiel and finch together?

Aviary is 1/2 hexagon, 2m long, 0.9 at widest point. And I am asking about all 3 together at least for a period. Mind you the shape is not particularly practical so we may end up leaving it, as we weren't looking for extra birds anyway.
Definitely don't want our finches legless!!! :lolno:

Thanks for the feedback everyone. it is what we suspected. I guess we will have to wait till another aviary comes along!

I have 8 zebs, 3 budgies, 2 quarrians, 2 gouldians and 3 white doves in a mixed aviary (3m x 3m x 2.1 high ) and the only problem I have is that the budgies keep pulling the zebs nests apart. They all get on fine otherwise, however I am going to move the budgies and quarrians when I finish my other aviary. I think 2 of the budgies are tring to nest in a ply open front finch nest, maybe I should shout them a nest box of their own, lol. I end up with all this stuff because the missus gets talking to someone in town who wants to get rid of a couple of birds, so she feels sorry for them and arrives home with them.

Do not put budgies in with anything else - we've had budgies kill a red rump put in for "holding" while we re-arranged!

The cockatiel is generally OK with finches and other smaller birds that don't attack it but again the budgies will probably make short work of the cockatiel.
