dead finch

I found one of my zebras dead on the ground a while ago, it had been pecked alot by the quail. Would the quail have killed it, or would it have just died and the quail just pecked it after death? It has only happened once, and the quail seem to be pretty friendly with the finches.

X2 i have never seen quail be so aggressive as to kill a finch.

the finch was fairly old, and they were king quail.

I have seen Quail eating or pecking dead finches before.But have not seen them killing finches.Hopefully it was just getting a bit of protein after the fact.
