The rare finch conservation group, website: www.rarefinch.co.za, was established at about the same time as the your familiar "Save the Gouldian fund". This group is doing for finches on the African continent what Mike Fidler and his band of men are doing for the Gouldian in the Kimberley's. The group is based in South Africa but their quest is being expedited in Central Africa. I have a little involvement with this group at the moment as I am translating their website into the Dutch language.
I just wish to draw everyone's attention to the site, the group and the good work they are doing. The rest is up to you. I am also including a link to their latest update, Happy reading, regards, Case http://rarefinch.wordpress.com/

All those involved are doing wonderful work and educating local people on the birds identification too. The initial results of the education and awareness they have created are already evident in the conservation and community. The project relies on funding to further their work so I really hope that there are plenty generous foundations out there that will support their requests.
On a side note: if anyone hears of funding opportunites that support African bird conservation please let me know and I will inform RFCG.

Well done Case and Monotwine.
The more their name is mentioned the better chance of much needed funding.

I am very impressed with the work they have been doing with the Shelley's Crimsonwing.

Good on ya mate! And....... soon you will be able to read the site in Dutch! It sure will go to a good course. I am trying to keep various blogs alive in different countries. This group of foundation members - all volunteers - need all the help they can get. cheers, Case.

Start again! I started this post in Dutch as I just came from a Dutch Birding site. Cardinals for sale at around $400 EU a pair more than you could throw a stick at.
Grey singers $100 pair, anyway, I mailed Eelco Meyjes tonight who is the coordinator/publicity man for the Rare Finch Conservation Group and made him aware of the activity on this bird forum. That way both parties benefit from the exposure. Cheers, Case.

Would they be willing to do a banner exchange with us.
Something we could put at the top of the page, where the redgum aviaries advert is at present.
