Hiya

Im new to this and have just had success with Zebras beeding, but my Gouldians are nesting and was wondering if I should be doing anything specific for them.
I did nothing but let mother nature do her bit for my Zebras, should I do the same for my Gouldians???

Any advice would be great

Thanks in advance
Cheers

You might need to start off the nest for gouldians. Just a handful of whatever you use for nesting materials, just enough to get them checking out the nest box.
Are they in with the Zebras?

gouldians are not hard to breed but they are a bit harder than zebbies.
firstly lots of nice greens when they have their chicks.
secondly, as BB suggested, give them pre-made nests, but I would say make the whole darn thing for them, they're not the best at doing it themselves, probably because they don't usually use grass in the wild, instead they use hollow logs.
good luck!

Thanks guys
We have 3 ready made nests for them and it looks like they taken to one of them .. which is great.
Will keep you posted!!

On a different note one of my zebras babies has torn its back leg quite badly.
Its not bleeding or anything but its an open wound and the bird is not happy.

Something similar happened to my cat (random i know) and the vet suggested to put bepanthan (antiseptic cream) on it every day twice a day until it heals
It healed perfectly .. so my next question is do you think the same could work on a zebra??

We took it out and washed it with warm salty water and cut the gooy feathers off and pretty much tried to clean it as best as possible

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance !!

I would check with an avian vet before administering an antiseptic cream.
if it is a really open wound it may need stitches.

Well we pack the wound with vegemite and never had a problem with it. Another is vitamin e cream they use on open wounds for horses
