Does anyone know if any other Conures beside Nanday and Sun allowed in WA now. I am wanting to get a pet parrot for my family. I am loving the Blue throats, maroon bellied, peraly, crimson bellied or green cheeked. I know several years back these werent allowed into WA, has there been a change at all??

Pearlies make great pets though not as colorful as the others . They dont get nippy , seem to be more mellow .
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Not really you should be able to obtain a pair of Pearly conures for between $300-$400.Jayburd wrote:I love pearlies and blue throats, pearlies bloody expensive though

Typical Pyrrhuras Jaybird,
Even the crimson-bellies will be down to that sort of price soon. (I'm sure this will upset some people, but they do breed well and the prices are falling steadily)

well I hope the prices of lineolated parakeets fall soon - the one and only parrot I would ever be tempted to give up finches for.

The most up-to date information I can find is the WA Declared Animals list 2009.

o A1- Entry prohibited.
o A2 - Subject to eradication in the wild.
o A3 - Keeping prohibited.

o A6 - Keeping subject to permits and/or conditions.
o A7 - A management programme for each species outlines the area and conditions under which controls may be applied. Programmes are for the whole of the State or as indicated for each species.
Certain animals that would otherwise be covered by item 4 of the declaration above have been assessed and specifically declared as prohibited. These are marked * in the list.
