I am thinking which one would be better for me.
What does everyone prefer in regards to breeding quality finches.

Cheers

Lots of very large avairys. :parp: And a lotto win to pay for them.
Some finches do seem fine in cabinets, but most require avairys. What sorts do you hope to breed?

aviaries, single pair flights or big mixed aviaries, Personally I hate cabinets but that's just my opinion :)

Cabinets are good if you don't have the room for aviarys but make sure they are big enough for the species you are keeping.

I just have some zebras but would like double bars, Gouldians and would like goldfinches too. I might get a couple cabinets and try them out but also have the aviary too.

If you want to breed specific colours/markings in the Zebs and Gouldians then large cabinets would make it easier. But for Double bars I would definately use an avairy, and the Gouldians would be happyer in the avairy when not breeding also.

Gouldians and zebras you could get away with in cabinets, goldfinches the cabinets would have to be much bigger than normal, and for double bars an aviary is the only/most suitable
like your choice in birds ;) :D the goldfinch is R. Kingston's favourite bird!

They do it here (Philippines) too but they turn the birds into egg machines and everything is raised by societies or zebras. I don't like it but I have room for aviaries and they don't so I can't really compare. If you look at breeding success they are streets ahead of me but I think my birds enjoy their life more!
