Hi all-
Ive noticed in the last day or so that one of my Male BH Gouldians has been sleeping a lot. He just sits there and seems a bit dizzy and has his eyes closed. I have caught him up and physically cannot see anything wrong with him.
- not underweight
- good feather
- Good breathing
- Eating drinking and singing now and then
Im stumped! Any suggestions as to what would make my him dizzy but otherwise in good health?? Ive consulted all my books and cant find anything. Ive cought him up and put into hospital cage to try and look at his droppings.
Mystery Illness????

Morning KB, shouldnt you be at work?
Good call, you have him in the hosp cage make sure he has heat and check him out, dont feed him anything but seed and water.
I dont introduce any added stuff in water or seed, but you might have to give him some treatment depending on how he goes. cocci or moxi if your having damp conditions or change of weather, maybe Antib if he has an infection.
No mystery KB, Goulds will do that to you!

lol! I am at work..just working from home with remote access since its school holidays. Im keeping an eye on him. No damp conditions for the last few weeks and all birds have had a cocci treatment since then, a moxidectin for mites and wormout gel this week. All other birds seem fine, just this isolated male.

Hmmmm...I am actually wondering if it as side effect of the Moxidectin treatment I gave my Gouldians a couple days ago? I drop at the back of the neck?

Doubt it was the Moxi Kb its not considered a strong med compared to other wormers, dont worry, crack a tin. Im off in t-minus 7 minutes and 4 pack o J D's from the bottlo after hearing bit of bad news in aviary not long ago.
Yours will be ok just keep him on the heat so he doesnt use up all his strength keeping himself warm. cheers!
