Once you have made 5 posts a lot more of the forum will open up for you, there are a lot of topics on the gouldian.

Best time to purchase new gouldians especially blues is about December after the birds have completed the molt and are in adult plumage.

Im a new breeder and right off the bat I decided I had to have blues. So I got a few (pretty cheap over here) . I've read about everything i could on US forums so I moved over here next. It seems here there is a larger fascination with Blue birds and thats great because I feel the same way! Im finding the reading and experiences here very interesting.

I cant wait for spring either..Im hoping for little blue babies everywhere :)

Hi Okiebirds.

You may have seen that they have a reputation for being delicate over here. I'm unsure of what the strains in the US are like but it would be great for you to contact true breeders- as opposed to dealers- in your neck of the woods as they can best advise you of the situation over there.

In the meantime, the breeders over here in Australia will try to help you with our experiences on this forum, so feel free to ask whatever you need to know.

Good luck with them!
