As a newcomer to the site its a bit daunting not knowing who you are conversing with - is it someone you have never met or someone you've known for 20 years. I've come to a few conclusions about who's who in a short time - only Marcus Pollard starts a sentence with Methinks (although Jayburd did one today - bad influence I assume) - but most people are strangers at present. I understand some like it that way and I do respect their privacy but I find it hard to have a conversation with a username sometimes without context.
Is there a post where individuals have "outed" themselves beyond the username or can this be the start of one ??
In the case of the latter, I am Danny Brown, Sunshine Coast, QLD, avian vet (but non practising these days), finch, softbill, reptile and native fish nut.
IS THERE A WHO'S WHO THREAD ??

no such thread at the moment. only kind of details on a person are usually given out in the introduce yourself topic, closest we've got. i think it's mainly to play on the safe side, ie the owners and most forum users prefer to remain anonymous to protect personal details (and their birds!!) from falling in the wrong hands. it can be odd to deal with people this way, i agree, but necessary with the openness of the interwebs. would be up to the moderators/owners if they would be willing to start such a thread.

One reason for the user name is for the less experienced members.People are reluctant to ask questions fearing that they may get ridiculed.
By having their user name they can ask and not worry.
I go along with the user name but many know who I am.
By the way I enjoyed your presentation, informative and I didn't know you were a comedian.
I definitely will not keep Red Wattle Birds, good to have you on board

Yes ...if it becomes a who's who type of forum this little commoner would not be very comfortable at all.

I think your right Danny,You get an idea of who people are by their posts , locations and with some their username is a give away. And now with this post i know who i thought you were.Yes their is quite a few very experienced and well known bird keepers on this site,And you are probley reading posts from people you know without knowing it.But with a username as mentioned everyone feels on a level playing field so to speak, and as mentioned can feel free to have an opinion without malice,And some may just feel the need to protect their collections by having a username and being then able to talk about a rare breed they have. Anyone may use their real name if they want to that's their choice. And sometimes you see a name on the bottom of someones post and don't see it again.
Welcome Danny I have enjoyed reading your articles.
