If its been a good parent in the past your chances are good, but if not a good parent then your chances are not so good. Any other zebs with eggs been laid around the same time that you can foster under.

no havnt got any other birds with eggs at the moment.dont know if he has had chicks before have only had the zebs for about 6 weeks. ive been out to the aviary a few times to day and he has been in the nest box every time ive been out there so hopfully he will do a good job. they should start hatching next thursday/friday so all i can do is wait and see what happens.

just checked the nest and one of the eggs has hatched
today is the 15th day since i first noticed the eggs so hopfully a couple more might hatch if not one is better than none considering the mother died ten days ago.

fingers crossed he will hatch and rear them.Although personally if they have only just been laid i would remove them,As it will be a valour attempt by him, to raise them by himself if this is the case.

two more eggs have hatched but one has died. the first hatching is going good now covered in white fluff and getting bigger. the male chases all other birds away from the nest except now he is letting one of the young females enter and leave the nest is it possible she is helping him or they are pairing up??????
