im pulling out my nest boxes tomorrow, its getting way too cold for us, and also the fact the babies have more chance of dyeing from the cold, theres also more chance of egg binding in hens because of it, were expecting minus 3 tomorrow as well. some people do breed them through winter though.

Well if it doesn't get cold where you are then it should be fine but where I am it gets really cold in winter so it sucks

Hi Brett, iv lost a few young at day 10 ish age when the hens stop sitting recently. i too will be taking nest boxes out soon. its just not worth the risk for me to loose hens and babies in winter.
getting down to 3 tonight here, not as cold as some places but the babies would'nt survive, i dont have any heating in my aviaries and no insulation either, so winter time for me is rest time for the gouldians.
they will lay and breed if given the chance in winter, alot of people breed gouldians during the shorter days of the yr.
Nathan keep us posted on how they go.
