Hi im having some serious bad luck this year with new pairs of zebra finches and bengalese finches for some reason.
The two pairs are new parents and have never bred before. The zebra pair hatched the eggs out and left the nest and let them die. i managed to successfully foster 2 chicks to another pair of bengalese and they are doing great.
The bengalese pair had 7 eggs. 3 hatched yesterday and i checked again this morning. 2 had died and 2 more had hatched leaving me with 3 chciks and 2 unhatched eggs *that will hatch* All had empty crops. So i decided to put them with another pair of bengalese that had been sitting on fake eggs fors about 3 days now. They look rather confused as to how they have got chicks so quickly and hope they adopt them.
The bengalese pair were still sitting on the chicks and eggs though but were not feeding them. Why is this happening? Is it just because its their first try?
New parents not feeding their chicks!

More than likely just first timers.Perhaps try just letting them be for a round, not poking aroung too much and swapping eggs, chicks ect.
