Pampas grass

wondering if anyone else uses the spear heads as nesting material for their birds.
my birds prefer it over feathers, even the lazy Gouldians line their nests with it

Ive noticed a few ostrich feathers in the gouldians nests lately. I didnt think pampas grass could be grown anymore?

I did have my eye on some at work but they went and cut them out on me the buggers as they are a noxious weed over here....would like to give it a go , anything for free .....pete

Yes Mick my birds love it too . Trying to get some of it to grow at the moment to plant in a new Avery I'm planning .

yes i use pampass

hey pete theres some on the corner of aramdale rd and tonkin hwy there set off the road a bit too so no need about the pollution side off things dad and i have both used them from this spot no problems actually need to get some mnore but not sure if there out as yet could maybe get you some dad and i just go for a ride with the pruners nd a few bags nd take the bush way lol

I have it growing out the front of my house.The council sprayed it ( about 20 large plants ) but most has grown back.

Is that why you used to see it everywhere and now you don't? Just goes to show I should keep up with the rules about plants. :oops:

there's some across the road from my place. a fire went through a while ago and burnt everything down to the ground, took the opportunity to grab some of the small clumps of grasses growing back, one i know is pampas and another unknown grass, but have planted as future nest sites for my pictas. there are still some small clumps of pampas there still, but it's a real bloody pain to dig out, and didn't do well with transplanting!!! but still alive... just... if you're up for a trip... :lol:
