My pair of BH's have successfully raised a pair of babies that have been out of the nest for 2 weeks now. Are still begging food from mum and dad. On the weekend went to remove their nestbox and saw the female in the inside of the entrance to the nestbox feeding the babies and then disappear into the box.
On investigation I found she was now sitting on 2 eggs!!!
Yesterday morning I witnessed the female leaving the nest and the male entering.
As luck would have it we are now having our coldest mornings (-2.5 on our veranda this morning). maybe the female has the right idea - sitting in a cosy nest all night!!!
