has anyone had any luck breeding weevils? im thinking for my orange breasts they would be a good size .It looks like you cannot buy anywhere in Aust so im thinking of putting out some seed to attract moths and then hopefully netting in any weevils so the cycle can continue.
Just saw the fly offer but I just hate flys it creeps me out to think of live flys in the house...and I could not hurt a mealworm by chopping it up :roll:
im thinking I could deal with weevils

Best breeding season I every had in the days when I had orange breasteds was the season I had a bag of seed with weevils in.
They absolutely loved them.

As a notorious pedant, I have to ask: What the heck are you lot on about?
This is a weevil: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat_weevil" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Weevils are a type of beetle with an elongated snout. There is also the Biscuit Beetle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drugstore_beetle" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) which are also sometimes referred to, inaccurately, as 'weevils'.

So what is all this talk about moths? Weevils are nothing like moths. They're not even lepidopterans.
If I had to guess, I'd think you were talking about either the adults or larvae of the Flour Moth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephestia_kuehniella" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Is that it?

I'd say they are referring to biscuit beetles. I call them weevils too & I know its not exactly correct but I also call termites white-ants and luderick blackfish.
