Beautiful bird hey ...
Does anyone keep them?
Are they live food eaters ?
Seems to be they like being around houses and will nest close to people traffic areas .

They've been written up in Australian Aviculture a few times since the 40's, most recent is A/A Vol 48 No. 6 June 1994 Page 129-130 according to birdcare.com.au, so someone must have kept them in the past....
They nest in tunnels in the ground, this could be a challenge in most aviaries.

In NSW they're not listed under the licensing laws, so I assume that means no one keeps them. Though, interestingly, it does list Mistletoebirds, does anyone know if they are kept. Lovely birds!

They are, or used to be, listed on the Victorian licence (Schedule 3 I think). I tried to track down anyone keeping them about 8 or 10 years ago with no success. Most of the people I quizzed about it said they thought there might be some in WA but could not give me any names.

The Striated ones are exceptionally nice .
Are they common to Dubbo ? Thats one for NRG to look up for me I think.

There is a guy in SA keeping them but dont ask me which species he has. Saw Redbrowed Pardalote here a few weeks ago and they were very pretty.
