Hi all members, have been away for a while from Finch breeding but time to get back into it, have kept various finches throughout my life starting as a youg bloke keeping Cordons, Cubans, Blackhearts, Stars, Crimsons, Gouldians I think at that time the early 70s a lot of the Australian finches were wild caught birds and breeding them was difficult but I did have success with Cordans which I sold as a kid for $30 a pair good pocket money for a kid.
After a long break from birds I started again a few years back and was successful in breading Diamond Firetails then purchased some Blue caps which only recently died of old age they would have been 7-8 years old and unfortunately although laying eggs never bred "I supspect to closely related.
Time to revamp the aviaries and get back into it and purchase some new stock Crimson Finches and Blue Caps are the birds I want to concentrate on, I want to get several different lines of both birds, if any members can point me in the right direction of some reputable breeders in WA or interstate that would be greatly appreciated.
Look forward to learning and contributing to this great forum
Mark

No success as a kid Nathan, I think a large majority of Australian Finches were wild caught birds back then and most didn't breed, the Crimson Finches were always my favourites because of their colouring.Nathan Morleyy wrote:Welcome to the forum Mark,
