Does anyone know of Rainbow Bee-eaters being kept in Australia, apart from in zoos etc...?
I know a bloke who keeps them and reckons he breeds them, but haven't been to his neck of the woods for a while to check it out.
He is unsure as to their legal standing, and as a rule doesn't engage much with authorities anyway...
I can't find them on the NSW lists, so presume they aren't (legally) kept here.
A particular favorite of mine, I have befriended wild RBEs on a couple of occassions.
I'm not sure if I would even want to keep them; I'm just interested.

Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Thanks Deb, That one is a pic of a hen. The males have longer tail extensions. Here is a pic of my male, very tame, eats out of your hand and lands on you. They sound like a postmans whistle.
