I use grapefruit seed extract in the water to purify and kill bacteria as well as protozoans and yeast. Some people also add organic apple cider vinegar.
I also have used neem tea to treat a sick bird.

I'm intrigued by your use of Diatomic Earth vettepilot_6.
How do you feed it to your birds and at what rates?

I used this a few years ago and have just come back to finchs.....I left it in a container with other goodies such as green food (the dust covers everything) etc....dust all crevices, nestboxes etc......I have recently joined a local finch club and Russel Kingston is now relishing its benefits from a recent trip to Africa...he is now selling it too.Woody wrote:I'm intrigued by your use of Diatomic Earth vettepilot_6.
